INDICATIONS:
OPTALBEN Mineralised Cattle Drench
controls susceptible mature and immature roundworms, lungworm, and
tapeworm in cattle and deer; and mature liver fluke and inhibited Ostertagia Type II in cattle. Also controls worm
and fluke eggs, and provides 7.2 mg copper and 1.5 mg selenium per mL.
At the recommended dose, this product is effective for the treatment and control of the following albendazole
sensitive parasites:

PRECAUTIONS
Do not use at the same time as any other selenised fertiliser, prill or product without consulting
a veterinary practitioner or animal health adviser. Do not exceed the stated dose volume and frequency.
RESISTANCE MANAGEMENT:
OPTALBEN Mineralised Cattle Drench
contains albendazole, a member of the benzimidazole (BZ) group of
anthelmintics.
• Resistance can develop to any anthelmintic. It is advisable that a resistance test be conducted regularly when using any parasite treatment. Check effectiveness of anthelmintics at least annually. • To delay the onset of resistance, ask your local veterinary practitioner or animal health adviser for recommended parasite management practices for your area to reduce development of resistance. • A representative sample of animals should be weighed before treatment. • Draft animals into lines of similar bodyweight, then dose according to the weight of the heaviest animal in • Where there is a large variation in size within the group, dose rate should be based on the label directions for each weight range. Drafting into two or more lines may be appropriate, to avoid excessive overdosing. • Regularly check the accuracy of drench gun. Clean drenching equipment after use. • Use correct drenching technique with care.

DOSE RATE:
The required dose is 10 mg/kg albendazole, which is provided by using 1ml per 15 kg bodyweight, as shown in
the following table:

WITHHOLDING PERIODS:
MILK:

Milk intended for sale for human consumption must be discarded during treatment for not lass than
35 days following the last treatment.
Cattle producing meat or offal for human consumption must not be sold for slaughter either during
treatment or within 14 days of the last treatment.

WARNING
Dangerous to the Environment
Harmful to aquatic life with long-lasting effects. Harmful to soil environment. Avoid contamination of any water
supply with product or empty container. Avoid release to the environment.
Handling Precautions
May be harmful if swallowed. May cause mild skin irritation. Repeated exposure may cause skin allergy.
Albendazole may possibly cause damage to genetic material and many organs, and may affect development
and/or reproduction. Avoid skin contact.
Fist Aid:
IF skin or hair contact occurs, remove contaminated clothing and flush skin and hair with running water.
For advice contact the National Poisons Centre 0800 POISON (0800 764 766) or a doctor immediately.
Emergency Response:
In case of spillage wear appropriate protective clothing and prevent material from entering waterways. Absorb
spills with inert material and place in waste containers. Wash area with water and absorb with further inert
material.
Disposal:
Preferably dispose of product by use. Otherwise dispose of product packaging and waste at an approved landfill
or equivalent facility.
STORAGE:
Store below 25oC (at room temperature).
